Searches for "Based Supplies reviews" went from 390 a month in September 2025 to 2,900 in August 2026 (DataForSEO, US). So plenty of people are standing where you are right now: jar in the cart, one tab open, wondering. Here's what the product page, the policy pages, Trustpilot and Reddit actually say, and the tin I'd buy instead.

Based Supplies tallow and honey balm reviews: what does the label actually say?

The Based Supplies Tallow & Honey Balm is a 2 oz jar of grass-fed tallow, raw honey, beeswax, olive oil and four essential oils, for $30.00, or $15.00 an ounce. The product page has no written ingredient list; the list lives in an image. Here it is word for word, as published on September 18, 2026 and still on the page September 24, next to ours.

Based Supplies, from the ingredients image on the product page: "1. 100% Grass Fed & Finished Beef Tallow 2. Organic Raw Honey & Organic Beeswax 3. Cold Pressed Organic Olive Oil 4. 100% Pure Essential Oil's Mix: Sandalwood, Neroli, Pine Scotch, Rose"

The product page describes the smell this way: "It has a unique 'green and woody' scent because of our essential oils mixed with honey/beeswax." For people who react to essential oils, the page says they're "diluted to less than 1%" and points to a separate No Essential Oils jar at the same $30.00.

Is Based Supplies legit?

Here's what's on the record, from Based Supplies' own pages and its Trustpilot profile. Trustpilot has withheld the company's star rating and says why: "This company has been sending invitations that encourage positive reviews." The store names no place of manufacture on any page we checked. And its refund promise reads one way on the product page and another on the policy page. Put that next to a 2 oz jar at $15.00 an ounce, and you've got your answer on whether it's worth the money.

The Trustpilot warning

Trustpilot shows no score for basedsupplies.com. On September 18, 2026, the profile carried a red "Warning" label and this line under the company name: "This company's rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines." Next to it, a box headed "Breach of guidelines" said: "This company has been sending invitations that encourage positive reviews." Those are Trustpilot's words, not ours.

Where Based Supplies is based, and where the balm is made

The homepage says the ingredients are "sourced from local farms here in Ontario, Canada." The mailing address in the site footer is in Sanborn, New York. The shipping policy says "We ship out from fulfillment centers in the United States." The product page promises "more transparency than other brands." We looked for where the balm is actually made on the product page, the homepage, the About page, the FAQ and the shipping policy, and didn't find it. Ours is made in small batches in Eugene, Oregon.

The refund fine print

Two Based Supplies pages, two versions of the deal. The product page: "welcome you to try our Tallow & Honey Balm without any risk for up to 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can return them for a full refund." The refund policy: "you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return," "your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging," and, under non-returnable items, "personal care goods (such as beauty products)." It also says "Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted."

Ours, from our refund policy: "Reach out to our customer support team within 180 days of your purchase." And: "You don't need to return the item to us." A jar you can't return once it's open is a jar you can't really try. Ours, you can.

Based Supplies tallow and honey balm reviews on Reddit: what do buyers say?

The biggest Reddit thread about this jar lives in r/SkincareAddicts, and on September 24, 2026 it was Google's top organic result for "Based Supplies reviews." Scroll past the happy posts and one complaint keeps coming back: dry skin. At least six commenters say their skin felt dry while using it. In their own words:

Is tallow balm actually good for your skin?

Yes.
